Because of you "Beloved Bloggers" from Shelly, Sara, Sandy to Kevin & Kaylene, to Dallin, Dad, and Margie, this blogging is coming!

Whose next for my questions??

And to think I was even able to pass on some tips to Dallin today!
Then...I'm learning that's how it all works anyway!

Muchos gracias to ALL of you!

HURRAH FOR OUR HARMON REUNION!!!

What a STUPENDOUS Sam and Veva Harmon Reunion!!! Think we had FIVE or SIX reunions packed into ONE!!! Angie and Shelly and their families are to be CONGRATULATED!!

AGAIN!!!

Certainly our Steeles sure took it all in, ALL the scrumptious food to begin with.....and THEN there was the water balloon slinging (in every direction), the hoop sticks, volleyball, baseball, and frizbee, fairy hunt (Angie has a true, new believer!), crafts, guesstimating, card games (who won the dominoes game?), missionary letters, memorabilia..... and mustn't forget that BYU football game (Yes! Can you believe it! Mark snuck off to their opening home game-they won 45 to 17!)

(BACK to the REUNION) and then, of course we ESPECIALLY enjoyed catching up with our aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and siblings, along with the biggest surprise of all: having Sam and Veva Harmon, Charles Frederick and Clara Daw, and Alan Ithamar and Emma Louisa Henderson Harmon come visit!! What a REAL(istic) experience that was to SEE them!!! Oh we love them and we love all of you -- all that could come and all the many that weren't able to be there!

So: GOD BE WITH ALL OF YOU TILL WE MEET AGAIN --- only two years!! (We know how fast that goes!) Harmons, we need to keep our yellow shirts close at hand!

Love to you ALL!

One Last Overnighter Before School Starts!

Today Omaei begins kindergarten! So last Wednesday we got in one last overnighter at Grandma and Grandpa's house. What do we do for the fun of it? Playing hide-and-go-seek in the cemetery is always the first request. Then hiding in the closet below the stairs, thanx to Uncle Dallin, is a must! (LOTS of giggling with the "boo thing" and all. ) Then we must blow bubbles, play on the trampoline, and of course read books in Grandma's bed at the end of the day. These girls know how to have fun! We love Omaei and Kalani! And know Omaei will be the best little student ever!

Celebrating Life - Forever

Paula is a precious friend that just passed away from breast cancer . Like so many, I will miss her so much, yet am so glad she is now free!
It's been a month of sorrow as well as love for her and her family.

This poem is from Mother Teresa, a definite description of how Paula too led her life. She presented a plaque of it to our family friend Judy Larson a few years ago, shortly after she was diagnosed. I know many of you will appreciate and recognize it there in Judy's home.

With all our love, God bless the Harrison Family!

Anniversary Adventures

This year we celebrated our anniversary twice: in Salt Lake and California! In June Mark surprised me to a night at Inn on the Hill, a bed and breakfast just northeast of the conference center overlooking the valley. That Friday we went to Utah Arts Festival and Saturday we toured the Conference Center, etc.

This is the Inn on the Hill!

This is a view of the church admin building and Salt Lake Temple, from the hotel.

Close up of the temple.

At the Arts Festival, they had an "earth harp", with very long strings connected from the platform you see here, to a bridge walkway to the right. The strings were 50 or more feet long! It resonated beautifully throughout the plaza.

The Conference Center is just loaded with beautiful artwork. This piece is one of my favorites. It's stained glass, made at the Holdman Institute at Thanksgiving Point, where I work. They've also done many stained glass windows for temples in the last decade or so. The image is based on a painting by Carl Bloch.

Now on to the second part of our anniversary celebration, our trip to Los Angeles.

We're standing in front of the Los Angeles Temple.
This picture is similar to one we used for our wedding announcement, back in 1973!

After the temple, Mark showed me tickets he'd gotten to "Wicked", a play showing later that night at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. He had taken Shelly to it four years ago and I'd wanted to see it since then. SO this was a GREAT surprise!!

Our boat over to Catalina. It was the early boat out of San Pedro, so we were still waking up from our late night at Pantegas.

My island escort! A great way to see the island!
And WHAT an escort!

A view of Catalina Harbor at Avalon.

Sunday morning we went to a ward in Los Alamitos where Mark grew up, and then visited with Kevin and Ellen on Sunday. On Monday morning, before my flight home, we walked along the beach in Manhattan Beach.

These were incredible times together. But then it's been an incredible thirty-five years together.

Back in Time

For my birthday, Mark purchased tickets to see "Civil War" at the West Valley Hale Center Theatre. So this Saturday we nearly LITERALLY returned to the south to a space in time that totally intrigues the two of us. This performance was SO well done, it was unforgettable. Our neighbor, David Weekes, was the Union officer and Joseph Paur, (Rigoletto) was the Confederate officer. They were excellent, but then, all of them were. There was a Negro woman that so spoke to my soul.

Most of the play was music. When we go to iTunes, all the songs are there but NOT like they sung on Saturday. Talking w/David at church yesterday, Hale Center cannot do a CD of the music: so sad.

There was a song sung by a Union officer. It's a letter he's writing his wife, thinking he won't be alive after the battle the next day. It's called "Sarah". Then her response is just as endearing, expressing her gratitude just to be able to honor him by carrying on his name. I sat there and cried through this exchange of love!

On the way home, Mark and I quickly agreed that this performance of "The Civil War" was even more astounding and incredible than any reenactment we'd been to, which is saying A LOT! We both LOVE reenactments, especially of the Civil War. We "feel" the South.

A Unexpected Call...

A few weeks ago I came home from work on a Monday night. Mark was in the computer room in a white shirt and tie. I was curious why he was dressed up. He said he needed to make a call in the ward. My thought was, "ok, but it is a Monday night?" I hung around in the computer room visiting with the family and then decided to take my work things into the bedroom and get ready for bed. Mark followed me and shut the door. Immediately I wondered what was up. He said, "I need to make a call in the ward." We both broke out laughing!!! I knew then I was the ward member to be called! I had NEVER received a calling in my bedroom, nor a kiss from the bishopric counselor after I accepted!!!

And yes, it was exactly what I 'd supposed: the 2nd counselor in the YW presidency. I'd been carrying the responsibilities w/the Beehives for 4 to 6 weeks up to that point because the counselor was newly engaged and quite preoccupied.

This was one memorable moment for the two of us!

Now I'm in the depths and breadth of 15 going on 19 incredible, beautiful Beehives. Another awesome blessing in my life!!!!
