Back in Time

For my birthday, Mark purchased tickets to see "Civil War" at the West Valley Hale Center Theatre. So this Saturday we nearly LITERALLY returned to the south to a space in time that totally intrigues the two of us. This performance was SO well done, it was unforgettable. Our neighbor, David Weekes, was the Union officer and Joseph Paur, (Rigoletto) was the Confederate officer. They were excellent, but then, all of them were. There was a Negro woman that so spoke to my soul.

Most of the play was music. When we go to iTunes, all the songs are there but NOT like they sung on Saturday. Talking w/David at church yesterday, Hale Center cannot do a CD of the music: so sad.

There was a song sung by a Union officer. It's a letter he's writing his wife, thinking he won't be alive after the battle the next day. It's called "Sarah". Then her response is just as endearing, expressing her gratitude just to be able to honor him by carrying on his name. I sat there and cried through this exchange of love!

On the way home, Mark and I quickly agreed that this performance of "The Civil War" was even more astounding and incredible than any reenactment we'd been to, which is saying A LOT! We both LOVE reenactments, especially of the Civil War. We "feel" the South.

A Unexpected Call...

A few weeks ago I came home from work on a Monday night. Mark was in the computer room in a white shirt and tie. I was curious why he was dressed up. He said he needed to make a call in the ward. My thought was, "ok, but it is a Monday night?" I hung around in the computer room visiting with the family and then decided to take my work things into the bedroom and get ready for bed. Mark followed me and shut the door. Immediately I wondered what was up. He said, "I need to make a call in the ward." We both broke out laughing!!! I knew then I was the ward member to be called! I had NEVER received a calling in my bedroom, nor a kiss from the bishopric counselor after I accepted!!!

And yes, it was exactly what I 'd supposed: the 2nd counselor in the YW presidency. I'd been carrying the responsibilities w/the Beehives for 4 to 6 weeks up to that point because the counselor was newly engaged and quite preoccupied.

This was one memorable moment for the two of us!

Now I'm in the depths and breadth of 15 going on 19 incredible, beautiful Beehives. Another awesome blessing in my life!!!!
